Evil is everywhere around us! A few minutes ago, I read about a man who murdered six people; among them was a 10-year-old child. Just a few weeks ago, a member of a local church committed suicide. Evil pervades society. One of the reasons why we have evil in this world is because sinners do not see fit to acknowledge God. How do they do that?

Paul’s letter to the local church in Rome is a part of the general letters written to specific churches. This means that this letter, along with others in the New Testament, is for every local church in every place. This includes churches in Croatia.
Evil is everywhere around us! A few minutes ago, I read about a man who murdered six people; among them was a 10-year-old child. Just a few weeks ago, a member of a local church committed suicide. Evil pervades society. One of the reasons why we have evil in this world is because sinners do not see fit to acknowledge God. How do they do that?
Primarily, they reject God’s revelation (Rom. 1:18–20, 28–32). People by nature simply do not want to think about God, to serve Him, or to worship Him. But they cannot blame God saying, “He did not reveal Himself to us!” He did reveal Himself, but sinners reject that revelation. When mankind continues in rejection, God gives them over to a depraved mind.
Depraved minds are everywhere. If you come to Croatia, you’ll find them. Truth to be told: you do not need to come to Croatia. Look in the mirror and consider your own tendency toward sin. With little thought, we all see the remaining effects of our own depravity.
How can we, then, keep our minds clean? We should stick close to God’s revelation. We should know that the gospel is the power of God for salvation (Rom. 1:16) and the only cure for the remaining evil in our sinful hearts.
