Christ, the perfect High Priest, made possible the impossible: He opened the door that led to God forever through His blood. And now, He lives forever to guarantee His people access to God. In Paul’s words: “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Tim. 2:5–6).

In the Old Testament, the high priest was appointed by God to offer sacrifices to atone for the sins of God’s people. But the problem the priests faced was that they were all sinners themselves, and therefore they could not bring anyone nearer to God—they needed atonement too.
In light of this reality, the author of Hebrews demonstrates that even though the Levitical priesthood was necessary and instituted by God, it was inherently insufficient. Nevertheless, the priesthood of Christ is not subjected to any such limitation.

Unfortunately, in Spain many prefer to rely on their own human efforts in hopes of getting closer to God, instead of relying on Christ’s perfect sacrifice and on His all-sufficient work as High Priest.
Praise the Lord that we, His children, have been saved forever and that He is now interceding for us before the Father. We can come straight to Him to receive comfort and help, for there is no need of anything else—no more incomplete sacrifices, no more imperfect priests.
