Episode Transcription

A former British colony, South Africa gained independence in 1961. Segregation was enforced by the colonizers and was formally structured into state policy from 1948 to 1994. Though it was officially abolished in 1994, segregation still plagues the society and church, as does syncretism between traditional African religions and Christianity.

TODAY, PRAY FOR

• The gospel of Jesus Christ to bring about peace and unity among the South African church, which faces much division over issues of skin color.
• Christ Seminary students as they learn a biblical worldview. Many African Christians come from a background influenced by traditional African religions.
• All Sub-Saharan Africa, which is languishing spiritually under the deception of the prosperity gospel.
