Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. — EPHESIANS 1:2
Paul not only conferred grace upon the Ephesian believers, but also peace. God wants His people to be at peace with all men (Rom. 12:18). That is, He wants us to be on good terms with everyone. However, what is most important (even imperative) is for all men to be at peace with God. Without this peace, which can only be found in Christ, no one will be saved, nor will they experience true peace.

Two words we often use in the church are grace and peace. In the apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he wished grace and peace upon the saints in the church. It is true that Paul was simply greeting them; however, this common Christian greeting is rich in meaning and expresses so much more than, “How are you? I hope you are doing well.”
The apostle Paul knew full well how essential grace is for all Christians. This can be seen as he considered God’s grace in his own life when he wrote, “But by the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Cor. 15:10). When Paul pronounced grace upon the Ephesian believers, he was expressing his desire for God to show them favor and to give them the ability to live in ways that showed the world their gratitude for God’s work of salvation and sanctification in their lives through Jesus Christ.

God wants His church to experience His grace and peace. Pray for God to give both abundantly. Pray for those who are strangers to this grace and peace, that they would trust in Christ and receive these blessings from God our Father.
