Episode Notes

When difficult situations happen in our lives, it is hard to see beyond the trial. In these moments our perspective shrinks and we begin to see such obstacles as almost insurmountable. Especially at these times, our need is to remember the promises of God and the character of God, and to remember that even in the most difficult of circumstances, God has ordained that our faith grow and be strengthened. In these moments let us glorify God by believing in Him completely and trusting in Him with all our heart.

Episode Transcription

In this verse, God encourages Israel not to be afraid of a very daunting situation. The nation was surrounded by many enemies that were more than ready to destroy it. While it applies to Israel specifically, this is an encouragement and exhortation that can benefit all of God’s people in every time and every place because God’s character does not change. Simply because we are God’s people we will always have enemies and be in danger from various attacks, yet our God cares for and upholds His own.

What an encouragement it is to know that God, the Creator of everything, is with you even in difficult situations. He desires that His people not be afraid of challenging circumstances or people, but instead hold fast to the character of God as described in this verse. God Himself will strengthen everyone who takes refuge in Him. He Himself will help and uphold such ones with His righteous power.
