Declaring His Glory Among the Nations

December 25 — God’s Love for the World

Episode Summary

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. — JOHN 3:16

Episode Notes

Today, we as believers celebrate and remember the amazing truth that God sent His only begotten Son. He did not send Him as a conquering king or as a triumphant warrior. He sent Him as a humble, lowly, helpless baby, in the midst of the filth and stench of animals and human sin. From the beginning to the very end, Jesus’ was a life of humiliation. The One who alone should have been worshiped as God came in the likeness of sinful flesh (Rom. 8:3) so that He might redeem us from the curse of our sin. What a Savior we have!

Episode Transcription

This is perhaps the most universally well-known Bible verse, and for good reason! God’s love for the world is truly a thing to behold. For those of us in Christ, we realize that it surpasses all human understanding and logic. The sacrificial love of a Father who sends His only begotten Son to bring eternal life to a dying world through His own death—it is too much! It amazes us and leaves us with our mouths open in astonishment.

This Christmas let us gaze deeply at Christ and marvel at His humility, His love, His sacrifice. Let us worship the triune God for the matchless gift of our Savior. And let us never become too familiar with the simple truth of Christmas that God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
