Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. — GALATIANS 1:3
Sadly, sometimes we lay aside these truths in our daily lives. A Christian can believe that he is saved by grace, yet live as though he were saved by merit (by his good works). Though we would not admit such a thing, we may nonetheless live like it. Therefore, we need to continually remind ourselves that we have peace with God only because of the grace that He’s shown to us in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace, the two key words of the apostle Paul’s greeting, are found together in most of Paul’s letters. They function as important reminders of the essentials of Christianity.
Sadly, sometimes we lay aside these truths in our daily lives. A Christian can believe that he is saved by grace, yet live as though he were saved by merit (by his good works). Though we would not admit such a thing, we may nonetheless live like it. Notice where the grace and peace come from. They do not originate in us. They come from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ! Grace has made it possible for us to have peace with God. This amazing grace, which comes from the Father through His Son, is not only justifying, but also sanctifying and glorifying (Rom. 8:29–30). We need to remind ourselves daily of the marvelous gospel of grace, and the peace with God that comes through it. We are accepted by the unmerited love of God through the sacrifice of His Son! Our sins are forgiven and we are at peace with God.
Never forget these wonderful truths. Make these two priceless treasures of grace and peace the quiet meditation of your heart today.
