For there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. — ACTS 4:12
Spiritually blind and perishing sinners continue to oppose the name of Jesus. Governments today, including ours here in Russia, have made stricter and stricter laws against preaching this name. But God has only given one name by which, if we call on it, we will be saved from hell.

Evangelical Christians in Russia are often accused of betrayal. Those close to us say that by embracing the evangelical faith we have betrayed the “faith of our fathers.” By this, they mean the Russian Orthodox faith, or even paganism, which was the original religion of ancient Russia and its territories. Betrayal is a serious allegation, and no one wants to be a traitor. Perhaps there is truth in these accusations? Absolutely not!
Our Scripture is part of Peter’s response after being questioned by the Jewish leaders about why he did not believe in the Jewish faith—what would have seemed to be the faith of his fathers. Peter’s answer was a clear declaration that God has determined—for Jews and Gentiles alike—that all people must believe in only one name. The “faith of our fathers,” no matter how ancient or widespread, is not able to save anyone. Only Jesus Christ can save a person from the fiery judgment. Upon hearing this answer, the leaders threatened Peter and the other apostles and forbade them to preach in that name.

Dear believer, the Lord has given you opportunities to bear witness to this great name. Let’s stand in the line of men like Peter, declaring boldly that salvation is found in no other name than the name of Jesus Christ.
