Declaring His Glory Among the Nations

January 27 — God’s Glory Comes Through Simple Men

Episode Summary

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong. — 1 CORINTHIANS 1:27

Episode Notes

According to His wisdom, God has chosen us who have nothing to offer to teach the greatest message in the universe, the only message that saves men from eternal damnation. We are twice privileged: first because Christ died for us on the cross and second, He chose us to preach the only saving message that exists. Yes, we are privileged!

Episode Transcription

Not only did God choose to confound the wise by focusing on the repulsive message of the cross—“for the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing” (1 Cor. 1:18)—He continues to confound the wise by choosing foolish people to teach the message. Indeed, the wise are shamed, as well as the strong!

If it were up to us, we would choose the wise, the noble, the rich, and the powerful to lead us to success and salvation. God has another way. He helps us to understand that it is not our achievement that redeems us but the message of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross.

According to His wisdom, God has chosen us who have nothing to offer to teach the greatest message in the universe, the only message that saves men from eternal damnation. We are twice privileged: first because Christ died for us on the cross and second, He chose us to preach the only saving message that exists. Yes, we are privileged!

But let us remember that we are also responsible to spread the truth of the cross near and far without hesitation and without compromise. We must do this so that everyone can hear it and also see our lives being transformed by it. May God’s glory shine through simple men and women as we proclaim the saving gospel!
