In our long list of prayers, we often emphasize asking God to meet our daily needs, such as food, water, shelter, and clothing. Sometimes we ask God for personal success in life or to excel in the groups we are involved with. While our perceived needs tend to focus on the physical and emotional, we often forget our need for the spiritual.
When we pray, we must understand that we are living in a fallen world with a lot of corruption and strong temptations to sin. Man can easily be tempted and, without protection, it is easy for us to fall into Satan’s traps.

This is a fight that we cannot afford to lose, and we can only win through prayer and the working of the Spirit.
I have found myself crying out to God in frustration many times after falling for the enemy’s schemes. My failures have shown me my need to pray and ask God for deliverance from temptation and the evil one. As poor and needy people, we are in constant need of God’s help and our only hope to avoid enticement to sin, evil, and temptations is to cling to God in prayer.
