Episode Transcription

The book of Hebrews was written to help Christians grow in the faith. The author of Hebrews is encouraging his audience to spiritual maturity through obedience. There are two things in this verse which God faithfully remembers about His servants: He takes note of our individual deeds. He also takes note of the motives for our deeds.

God is not unjust to forget our service to Him. The verse follows an essential warning against spiritual immaturity and fundamental directives on attaining complete maturity. It also gives great encouragement to believers who are seeking to stand firm in the faith in the center of a corrupt and rebellious age.

The author knew that God was not unjust and that those who trust in Him alone will never be dissatisfied by Him. In our lives there are times when we need instruction and admonishment, but God within His sovereignty knows that there are also times when we need reassurance.

What a glorious, wonderful reminder and assurance, to be told that the Creator’s eyes will never miss any good deed we do. Nor will He be uninformed or ignorant of any labor of love that is shown to Him through a compassionate loving ministry that is engaged toward His people.

Let this verse stir and strengthen your heart to give yourself to greater service to other believers. God sees and is glorified. What greater motive do you need?
