This is an important truth for all Christians. The concept of love that we hear and see today is completely different from the teaching of Christ. What is sinful and twisted has been taught as if it is true love, and what is truly loving according to the Bible is considered as sinful or hateful.

A lawyer, an expert in the Jewish law, once came to Jesus with a question to test Him, stemming from his hateful heart. He asked, “Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus had no problem answering this question. In fact, there is no one who is more fit to provide the answer to this question. Jesus simply declared that it was to love the Lord your God with a true and total love, with all of one’s heart, soul, and mind. This is really an exclusive love that is based upon one’s commitment to God.
This is an important truth for all Christians. The concept of love that we hear and see today is completely different from the teaching of Christ. What is sinful and twisted has been taught as if it is true love, and what is truly loving according to the Bible is considered as sinful or hateful.
This is, sadly, especially true in Japan. The concept of love is absolutely different from what Jesus describes here. Even at church, people consider “love” as emotionally based feelings which can change and shift at any moment. But we must pay close attention to and heed the words of Christ. Loving God is not an emotionally based love, nor is it a form of sinful acceptance. Loving God is an exclusive and willful love that is true and total. And that is how we must love Him in our own daily walk, wherever He has placed us in life.
